The fifth edition of the PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC) South African gambling outlook report was released this week, revealing a total increase in gross gambling revenues for casinos, limited payout machines, bingo and betting of R26 billion during 2015, an 11.2 percent increase on the previous year.

Despite government bans on online gambling, land casino owners continue to see it as a threat.
The latest annual report of the Casino Association of South Africa, a trade association for most of the country's land casino operators, continues to cite online gambling among its assessment of business threats to its members, despite the national government's clearly strong opposition to online gambling and the growing enforcement of bans on the vertical.

54-year-old alleged to have stolen large amount from South African Responsible Gaming Foundation.
South African media reports are that the former book keeper of the South African Responsible Gaming Foundation, Lucille Booth (54) is negotiating a plea bargain with Cape Town prosecutors regarding multiple fraud charges involving SA Rands 500,764 (about GBP 28,855).
