New Zealand's minister for horse racing, Nathan Guy, has indicated that government is planning changes to the 2003 Racing Act, apparently in an effort to shield the local New Zealand Racing Board from competitive international operators.

NYX Gaming Group, through its subsidiary Openbet, has revealed a 36 percent increase in peak bets per minute at a record-breaking Cheltenham Horseracing Festival, 76 percent of which were placed via the mobile channel.

Online sportsbook supplier NYX Gaming Group has revealed that during the recent Cheltenham horse racing festival its Openbet platform handled 227.16 million account transactions, including 35.64 million sports bets, an increase of 4.5 million, or 13 percent, on 2016.
