Hundreds of millions of dollars in new tax revenue possible with legalisation.
The US state of Pennsylvania has the potential to generate hundreds of millions of dollars in new tax revenue should the state pass legislation to legalise and regulate online casino games and poker, according to a recently released 14 page white paper by news and analytical research site PlayPennsylvania titled "Pennsylvania Online Gaming Revenue: A Billion-Dollar Opportunity."

Senator Jay Costa introduces his bill SB524 with the support of three other senators.
Earlier this year Pennsylvania Senate Minority Leader Jay Costa flagged his intention to introduce an online gambling and gaming reform bill (see previous report) and this week made good on his word with the introduction of SB524.

New legalisation bill follows earlier challenge to PASPA
Legislatively speaking, Delegate Shawn Fluharty is shaking things up on the gambling front in West Virginia; earlier this month he introduced HB 2751 to the state House, a measure that challenges the federal Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) which restricts sports betting to just three US states (see previous report), and on Friday he launched HB 3067, a proposal that intrastate online gambling be legalised.

January figures released this week show a 28.6 percent year-on-year improvement.
Figures for January released Tuesday by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement show that Atlantic City's online gambling revenues have continued to trend upward, rising 28.6 percent year-on-year to $18.8 million and making a real contribution to land operator profits.
