Considers current regulatory regime as sufficient.

The UK Gambling Commission has published an in-play betting position paper in which it concludes that risks to the licensing objectives from in-play betting is appropriately managed through the current regulatory framework and controls required of licensees.

The Commission considered changes in the market and technological advances in its consideration of in-play betting noting a growing focus on the vertical by other countries, such as Australia (see previous reports).

"Evidence does not indicate that further regulatory control measures are required at this time," the paper reads. "We will continue to monitor in-play betting for fairness and openness as part of our overall betting compliance programme, and take its particular characteristics into account in our wider work on integrity in sports (and other) betting and gambling related harm".

The Commission concluded that the current regulatory regime for in-play betting is sufficient, saying further controls are not necessary at this time.
