Five known online gambling dens in Subang Jaya, a suburban town in Malaysia, were targeted for the third time in simultaneous police raids Friday, and a further 101 computer sets, 18 laptops and other evidence was seized from operators who clearly have little respect for the law.

The confused mess that is German online gambling legislation, criticised by the European Commission and threatened with legal action from frustrated operators (see previous reports) appeared to be moving into a new "quick-fix" phase Friday, although there remains little hope for anything beyond expanded online sports betting (i.e. no casino or poker activity will be sanctioned).

AUSSIE GAMBLING GROUPS REACT TO IN-PLAY MORATORIUM (Update)

Some support the idea, but foreign-owned corporate bookies warn that it will drive mobile and online punters to offshore unlicensed sites.

The Australian government's reported decision to suspend all in-play betting until after the general election (see previous reports) has evoked very different reactions from traditional Aussie gambling groups like Tatts and Tabcorp, and the more aggressive foreign owned sports betting sites of companies like William Hill, Sportsbet and Bet365.
