Atlantic City land operator is a potential partner for Pokerstars.

Atlantic City casino operator Resorts Casino Hotel has been given the greenlight for internet gambling operations by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement after a comprehensive five-day test period overseen by DGE inspectors.

readers will recall that Resorts is a potential partner for Pokerstars, when and if that company can secure DGE approval, but in the meantime has partnered with Sportech NYX Gaming LLC in its online venture at Resorts Casino.com.

Resorts president Mark Giannantonio revealed Wednesday that his company and Sportech NYX will now initiate a real-money beta test phase that will probably last for several weeks, with the full launch of the site following.

"During our beta period, we will invite players to sign up and provide feedback on the user experience, while we add additional features before our official launch," he said. "Real-time feedback will be an important aspect of our beta period as we further enhance the gaming content and features to produce the best casino experience in New Jersey."

Resorts becomes the sixth of Atlantic City's eight casinos to offer Internet gambling, along with the Borgata, Golden Nugget, Tropicana, Caesars and Bally's.

Trump Plaza, which closed Sept. 16, and Trump Taj Mahal, which continues to operate, lost their Internet gambling operations last year.

Giannantonio told local reporters that his company still plans to partner with Pokerstars once the online poker giant has secured regulatory approval.
