MORE JOB CUTS AT HOLLAND CASINOS
24th January, 2014 at 01:41:11
Up to 200 more jobs in danger at Dutch gambling monopoly, but cuts not expected to impact online gambling plans.
The Dutch gambling monopoly Holland Casino is going to eliminate a further 150 to 200 jobs, about 5% of its workforce, in more cost-cutting measures, reports the Reuters news agency and the NL Times.
The job cuts will be made at the state-owned company's 14 branches, and follow an earlier staff reduction measure in November 2013 that eliminated 100 posts as the company battled for financial survival (see previous reports).
Sources have said that the cost-cutting measures will not impact the impending legalisation of online gambling in the Netherlands, or Holland Casino's intentions to be part of the new market, scheduled to begin in 2015.
