Nevada land gambling revenues were down 2.6% in October 2013 compared with a year earlier, the Associated Press news agency reports, quoting official numbers from the Nevada Gaming Control Board Wednesday.

Nevada land casinos brought in $954 million, with Las Vegas Strip winnings of $551 million down 5% from the same month last year, while downtown Las Vegas revenues of $47 million were down 3 percent.

Reno casino winnings slipped 1% to $43 million, whilst South Lake Tahoe saw revenue fall 23% to $12 million.

The state collected $61 million in taxes - an 11.9% increase from the same month in 2012.
