Ward will join Tom Waterhouse subsidiary in January as commercial director.

Isaac Ward, the e-gaming chief at Paddy Power for the past year who unexpectedly left and has been "on gardening leave" appears to have been head hunted by rival William Hill plc.

The news surfaced Friday that Ward is heading to Australia, where he will take up responsibilities as commercial director at the new William Hill subsidiary Tom Waterhouse.

Paddy Power and William Hill have similar product suites with sports books, mobile applications and both operate Playtech casinos complemented by a range of Vegas-style slot machines and live dealer operation.

William Hill recently extricated themselves form a financially successful but at times fraught joint venture with Playtech. Tom Waterhouse has been purchased to take advantage of the lucrative Australian sports-betting market.
