Forges ahead under Schleswig-Holstein licence award
Cashpoint, a subsidiary of the Gauselmann Group, has launched merkur-spielcasino.de under what has so far proven to be a controversial State of Schleswig-Holstein licence regime.
The online casino went live with real-money play for Schleswig-Holstein residents and as a free-to-play offer for non-residents, this week.
Due to Schleswig-Holstein regulations, games on offer are limited to slots. Table games, referred to as Banker Games, such as roulette and blackjack are not permitted, confirmed the company.
"But connected to the license are numerous regulations and conditions that are likely to make our offer economically viable only because of the great reputation of our brand character, the laughing Merkur sun, as well as our first class games," said Dr. Dirk Quermann, Managing Director and chief executive officer of Merkur Interactive GmbH.
Casino registration requirements include a copy of the players' identity card, proof of residence and furnishing of bank data.
"We have decided after careful consideration to meet our license and to open up to the people of Schleswig-Holstein, an entertaining, but above all legal and safe online gaming experience. We hope that the legislature hears our arguments and that the framework for the licensee will be significantly improved," Quermann concluded.
