Vital education to guard against match fixing and protect integrity of sport

The Professional Players Federation (PPF) and bookmaker's bet365, Betfair and Ladbrokes have renewed their funding partnership in a three-year extension announced at the UK House of Commons on Tuesday.

The deal will provide funds for player associations to finance education drives on sports betting integrity and the prevention of match fixing to some 7 500 professional sportsmen and women in the UK.

The Minister for Sport, the Rt Hon Hugh Robertson MP said: I welcome this partnership between the Professional Players Federation and the betting industry that will help safeguard sport from cheats. Educating players on betting integrity is a vital tool in the fight against corruption.

The leading betting operators understand the need for sport and the betting industry to work collaboratively to help safeguard sports integrity and so we're pleased to be a part of this effort, added John Coates, Joint CEO of bet365 and Chairman of the Remote Gambling Association.

Brendon Batson MBE, Chairman of the PPF said, The funding from bet365, Betfair and Ladbrokes will help us to continue to make sure that British sportsmen and women are some of the best educated in

the world about the dangers of match fixing.

This is the second deal between the PPF and the betting industry, the first delivered three e-learning programmes and face-to-face betting education to 5 620 professional players from 2010 to 2013.
