Online and land gambling firm has doubled its active client numbers
There were several interesting nuggets of online information in the outstanding full year 2012 results posted by Paddy Power
plc Tuesday (see previous report).
The online and land gambling group revealed that almost three-quarters of its Euro 139.2 million (£ 120.3 million) in profits came from online operations, where the number of active online punters has doubled to 1.6 million since 2010.
Much of the growth has come from mobile betting through smart phones and tablet computers, where mobile growth increased by 185% during 2012.
Online profits grew 8% to Euro 102.1 million (£ 88.2 million) in 2012 - or by 27% before investment in four new ventures.
Only 9% of the estimated Euro 333 billion (£ 287.8 million) global gambling market is currently online, the company pointed out in noting the potential for internet and mobile gambling worldwide.
