Wife's murder took place fifteen years ago

Brit poker pro Marcus Bebb-Jones (49), who was due to go on trial in April this year (see previous reports), has now struck a deal with prosecutors in the United States, the Express and Star newspaper reports.

He has admitted murdering his wife Sabrina in 1997, and concealing her body in the Colorado National park.

His guilty plea to second degree murder means he could receive a jail term of between 10 and 20 years when he is sentenced by a court on May 1.

At the time of the offence in September 1997, Bebb-Jones ran a hotel in Grand Junction Colorado with his wife before her disappearance. Her skull was subsequently found in 2004 by which time Bebb-Jones had returned to Britain. He was arrested five years later and extradited to the United States, maintaining his innocence on allegations of murder.

Prosecutors have alleged that Bebb-Jones went on a gambling spree in Las Vegas after his wife's disappearance.
