23-year-old repeatedly defrauded online gambling operators
From Brighton, England comes the tale of a 23-year-old online betting hacker who received his comeuppance in the Brighton Crown Court this week.
Local newspaper The Argus reports that Alastair Peckover (23) aka William Peckover, received a jail sentence of three years after breaking a court order which banned him from playing computer games. He pleaded guilty to breaching a Serious Crime Prevention Order (SCPO) against him.
The Crawley resident also admitted two offences of obtaining unauthorised access to computers and two offences of dishonestly making false representations.
His SCPO the first of such to be given in Sussex was renewed and the court ordered the destruction of the hard drive from his computer.
The court heard that Peckover has been convicted three times on internet-based hacking frauds against online betting companies, and has also defrauded individual internet users.
In July this year he was served with an SCPO lasting five years and ordered to pay back £ 47,000 of criminal profits within the following six months.
He was arrested in October 2012 and charged with breaching his SCPO following two offences of computer misuse.
