Pilot programme approved three years ago now online
The Illinois Lottery said it had re-launched its internet sales and added Powerball on its newly designed website. Customers can view their games and numbers played online as well as receive automatic notification if they win.
Players are limited to $150 in purchases per day, and registration and online age verification is required.
The news comes hot on the heels of Georgia State announcing the decision to start selling lottery tickets online [source: Euro Millions
] despite having a history of anti-gambling legislation.
The online gambling scene in the USA is seeing a raft of changes and proposed legislation on a State By State basis following the DoJ's announcement in 2011 that the 1961 Wire Act, previously used to enforce online gambling bans, was no longer regarded to have influence over Internet communications.
In other Lottery news, just one consortium has submitted technical requirements to the Greek authorities lottery tender process before the stated deadline.
The Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF) has moved into the next phase of the international tender process in the privatisation of Greece 's national lotteries.
The initial three successful candidates were named as Asterreichische Lotterien Gesellschaft m.b.H, a consortium of Sisal, Damco Energy
S.A. and Damlot and a consortium of OPAP Investment Limited, Lottomatica Giochi e Partecipazioni, Intralot Lotteries Limited and Scientific Games Global Gaming. who were bidding for the grant of a concession for the exclusive right to operate and manage the Hellenic Republic's State Lotteries for a 12-year period.
HRADF has whittled down these three to just one, who they say met the deadline of November 30, 2012 at 17.00 ( Athens time) for submission of technical files and documentation.
The consortium of OPAP Investment Limited, Lottomatica Giochi e Partecipazioni Srl, Intralot Lotteries Limited and Scientific Games Global Gaming now has the right to submit a binding financial offer to HRADF's Board of Directors at its meeting on December 10, 2012.
