SENATE COMMITTEE ON INDIAN AFFAIRS TO DISCUSS INTERNET GAMBLING
18th July, 2012 at 06:13:00
Wide ranging discussion planned, but no witnesses listed
According to the National Tribal Gaming Commissioners Regulators Facebook announcements page, the US Senate Committee on Indian Affairs has scheduled a hearing on ÔEUR┼ôRegulation of Tribal Gaming: From Brick and Mortar to the Internet for the afternoon of Thursday, July 26 at room 628 in the Dirksen Bldg.
The brief announcement from the senate committee, which is chaired by Daniel Akaka and is responsible for dealing with a wide range of issues impacting Native Americans, notes that proceedings will be webcast.
Tribal interest in the legalisation of online gambling remains high, particularly in California where a tribal split on the acceptability of legalised intrastate online poker has become evident.
The hearing on July 26 will be the third occasion on which the committee has discussed gambling.
