SWEDISH NATIONAL AUDIT OFFICE ON GAMBLING
02nd July, 2012 at 14:56:45
Inadequate system need to be revised
The Swedish National Audit Office Riksrevisionens has termed the country's existing gambling framework as inadequate and is calling for a newly-regulated environment that includes an efficient licencing system and mechanisms to counter illegal and unregulated gambling as well as a clear framework on marketing and advertising.
The audit declared a growth in gaming volume of approximately 16% between 2003 and 2011 with the legal market's gross sales amounting to around SEK 42 billion in 2011.
Riksrevisionens Auditor General Claes Norgren recommended the Swedish Government embark on a coordinated effort that would effectively address gambling regulations along with research and support for gambling addiction and problem gambling
