"Town Hall" meeting at the Rio gives players a chance to quiz Rep. Joe Barton

The Poker Players Alliance has rather cannily organised a town hall" style poker and political feedback meeting this weekend at the Rio in Las Vegas, where most of poker's great and the good, and thousands of pokerheads, are currently gathered for the World Series of Poker.

The meeting, which is free and open to all comers, will discuss the issues - and especially the political hurdles at Congressional level - attendant on the legalisation and future progress of the game in the United States.

Top speakers will include the PPA's executive director, John Pappas; Rep. Joe Barton of Texas, who introduced one of the federal legalisation of online poker bills currently languishing in Congress; former WSOP champ and poker activist Greg "Fossilman" Raymer; poker Hall of Famer Linda Johnson; PPA directors Rich Muny and Drew Lesofski; and the organisation's Nevada director Lupe Soto.

The discussions kick off at 12h15 Saturday local time, and interested parties are urged to ask questions - for example: what's up with the Barton and Campbell bills and is any progress envisaged this year?
