SPANISH PRE-APPROVED LICENCES DENIED
14th March, 2012 at 12:10:42
April dateline for Spanish licence issues may be too ambitious
Following industry rumours that a large number of online gambling companies would be receiving their Spanish licences before Easter this year, the recently appointed Director General of the Spanish regulatory body Ordenación del Juego del Ministerio de Economía y Hacienda, Enrique Alejo González has dampened the optimism in an interview with juegoonline.org.
González told sectordeljuego.org (Wednesday), that speculation on the early issue of Spanish online gambling licences may be premature especially regarding pre-licencing approvals but that his organisation continued to work diligently through a large number applications.
González said that the only date to which his organisation was working was that of June 30, 2012 when the current moratorium ends.
Taxation was a topic in the interview with González saying taxation should be harmonized across land and online gambling companies to achieve a balanced technical and tax model.
In related news, the second in command of the Spanish regulatory body, Deputy Director General Juan Carlos Alfonso Rubio has left the position with immediate effect for reasons unknown and his responsibilities have been temporarily taken over by Laura Minguitos whilst the search for a new deputy director gets underway.
