Bet365 founder and hief exec Denbis Coates to be recognised in this years New Year Honours list
Denise Coates, the dynamic founder and chief exec of top UK online gambling group bet365
is among those named in the current New Year Honours list, according to reports Friday from the BBC.
Coates will receive a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) accolade for services to the community and business.
The daughter of Stoke City FC chairman and veteran betting man Peter Coates, she founded Stoke-on-Trent-based Bet365, which now employs more than 1,700 people, turning it into one of the online gambling industry's premier, multi-million pound sterling companies, after starting out with minimal staff in a portable building in 2000.
Recent profits from online betting and gaming operations in Stoke and Gibraltar reached £ 93.7million, on turnover of £ 439 million, after bet365 invested heavily in internet and mobile technology as well as expensive advertising campaigning.
Denise Coates owns just over half the shares in bet365, which has generated dividend payouts in the last three years totalling £ 37.5 million.
