Global Draw selected for new electronic ticket system
The government of Jersey in the Channel Isles has contracted Scientific Games Corporation subsidiary The Global Draw to introduce its new electronic instant ticket (EIT) system, making the operation the first government lottery in Europe to sell tickets from EIT terminals.
Electronic instant tickets will be available in participating supermarket and pub chains, the airport and seaport, hotels and retailers throughout Jersey. As well as providing the people of Jersey with a more convenient gambling experience, the EIT terminals will provide the potential to increase the amount of funds generated for Jersey Charities.
Jersey's Minister for Economic Development, Senator Alan Maclean, commented, "We're thrilled to officially launch electronic instant tickets, which will not only make playing the lottery more accessible and fun but also has the potential to boost contributions to Jersey charities that so desperately need the extra support.
Paul Burnell, director of EIT/Lottery at The Global Draw commented, With the support of the Department for Economic Development, the Gambling Commission and local Jersey businesses, we are delighted to be able to offer Jersey a new, convenient way to play the lottery.
"We've been working hard to ensure that every aspect of our electronic instant ticket roll-out goes as quickly and smoothly as possible. We have been and will continue to be extremely controlled and strategic with the allocation and deployment of EIT dispensers into the marketplace.
The new EIT terminals provide a straight-forward way to play the lottery. Players simply insert their money into the terminal, select the ticket of their choice from a number of lottery ticket images, "scratch" the ticket on the screen and then collect a receipt to claim their prize. Players are still able to buy tickets over the counter.
The EIT terminals are networked to a centralised system which makes operations for the Channel Islands Lottery more integrated and secure. Daily monitoring and reporting ensures that sales of the lottery tickets are accounted for more effectively with increased security and integrity.
