Latest AAMS figures show that gaming wagers rose 25.45% in the first nine months of 2011
The Italian regulator AAMS reported Tuesday that Italy's total gambling wagers rose 25.45% in the first nine months of 2011 to Euros 55.2 billion ($75.5 billion) from a year earlier.
The Reuters news agency reports that the rise is more than the 23.85% growth seen in the first eight months, reflecting strong increases in slot machine wagers, including on video lottery terminals (VLTs).
In September, total wagers were Euros 6.896 billion, including Euros 3.428 billion from slot machines, AAMS revealed.
