Facebook remains in the loop

On the back of a new multi games release announcement that included an online bingo and casino product (see previous report), Zynga's chief executive officer Mark Pincus has confirmed the impending launch of a Zynga independent social games site for Zynga games dubbed " Project Z " as part of its direct-to-consumer strategy.

Keeping interested parties in suspense with strategically released teasers and minimal information, players are invited to obtain their Zynga Project Z gamer tags called " ZTags " in anticipation of the new site which will be enabled by Facebook Connect, therefore, requiring a Facebook account to participate.

Facebook Connect will enable this new social playground to leverage players' friend networks on Facebook to play in an environment built for games.

Zynga's website reveals the following:

"There are no details about this project, but you can get your username zTag here.

"We're lucky to have fantastic social platforms as partners and we continue to focus on bringing more games to mobile devices and to players all over the world.

What we've found from talking to our players is that they want to play online with friends who love the same games, and they want to connect with others who are playing at that very moment.

We call that the promise of instant social, and today we're taking a big step towards it with the announcement of Project Z, a new social games service from Zynga, enabled by Facebook Connect."
