BETFAIR A HIT LAST YEAR
08th April, 2011 at 03:13:39
Hitwise stats reflect the group's pre-eminence in sports betting
The independent internet competitive intelligence monitor Hitwise has rated the Betfair
group the most popular online gambling site for UK players through 2010.
Based on the number of visits its sites received between January and December last year, the company managed to outstrip strong rivals like Ladbrokes
and William Hill
, the monitoring firm found.
Matthew Booth, head of UK marketing for Betfair says that 2010 was a big year for sports, and that this is reflected in the number of players frequenting his company's operations in search of better odds and bigger wins.
In related news, Betfair Poker, which moved to the Ongame Network last year, has announced this week that it has budgeted $425 000 in World Series of Poker packages for winners in its satellite tourneys. The main event packages include buy-in, accommodation and travel costs and are worth an average $14 500 each, and side event packages of up to $5 700 are also available.
