22ND MARCH IS G-DAY FOR OPAP
17th March, 2011 at 14:42:10
Greek sports-betting monopoly plans new games
Greek betting company OPAP will offer fixed-odds virtual games and greyhound racing due for launch on 22nd March 2011, reports Reuters.
The new games will be operated on a trial basis in parts of the country with other betting offerings such as car racing to be added in the near future.
Analysts say the move will control revenue losses after OPAP's reported fourth quarter revenue fell 14% to Euro 1.26 billion. The fall in revenue is attributed to competition from illegal operators and a deepening recession.
The company has yet to announce the software provider it is partnering with although this information is reportedly imminent (see previous reports).
