Swedish Poker Pro Lundmark Beats Spains Lizano To Take EPT Event
Kent Lundmark has won the Barcelona leg of the EPT, beating Spaniard and home favourite Jesus Cortes Lizano heads up to win the title, EUR825,000 and a place in the EPT Grand Final. The 22-year-old Swedish poker pro beat a field of 757 other players at the Casino Barcelona on route to winning his first major poker title, and the biggest pay day of his career by far.
Lundmark had cashed in the EPT London last year, and made the money in the PCA in January. However, his previous best finish was at the Nordic Masters of Poker in March, where he finished in second place. After Puchkov bowed out in third place, Lundmark and Lizano went into heads up play virtually even in chips, but within 2 hours the Swede took the plaudits and glory after his AQ held up against the Spaniards KJ.
“It’s an amazing feeling,” Lundmark said. “This is one of the biggest tournaments you can win in poker. I've been running good all tournament, I was very lucky. In the heads-up, I just kept getting good cards. I always felt in control,” added the Swede. As well as the €825,000 first prize, Lundmark won a seat at the EPT Grand Final (spring 2011) worth €10,000. He will be joined by every winner of an EPT event this year in a bid to be crowned the EPT grand final winner..
