Legal services publication notes popularity of eCOGRA accreditation
The Internet Business Law Services organisation has acknowledged the contribution to the online gambling industry made by player protection and standards non-profit eCOGRA on its website this month.
Describing the activities of the self-funding London-based company, IBLS notes that eCOGRA
vets software and gives a seal of approval to those sites that meet its standards for fair programs, swift payments, and the 'humane' treatment of customers, and which accept eCOGRA as a dispute resolution arbiter in disagreements with players.
"A typical eCOGRA site has .4 complaints a month, whereas an independent site averages almost 12, the article notes. "eCOGRA has been gaining credibility and a reputation as a reliable, independent testing agency for online casinos and poker rooms. Their 'seal of approval' is becoming more popular, and they have attracted almost 100 out of the 2,000 online casinos to join their group & undergo their audits."
The piece goes on to discuss eCOGRA's use of the "Total Gaming Transaction Review (TGTR) - a perpetual monitoring and data analysis process" as a "gold standard" of gambling veracity to help build impeccable standards for the industry as a whole. The TGTR is itself audited by the international professional business services group KPMG on a regular basis.
"Overall, eCOGRA`s standards, testing principles and methods are well-regarded and they are working with other regulators and standards bodies to help guide creation of standardised rules to assure players online games are fair," IBLS concludes.
